Our SchoolPE



For two days in May we were visited by Lee, who taught every class in the school some skipping skills.  Everybody managed to skip or use the rope in a new way.  We tried partner skipping, double dutch, figure of eight, rodeo turns and a lot of other fancy tricks.  At the end of the sessions the whole school gathered and we enjoyed watching one another show off our new skills.  It was amazing to see what we had achieved!  We are going to keep practising, and are looking frward to Lee coming regularly throughout the next school year.


During the Spring Term, Year Two have been doing yoga.  We have been thinking about breathing with control and moving our bodies precisely.  We have learnt lots of poses with great names such as cat, cow, bridge, butterfly, tree, pigeon, mountain and downward dog.  Yoga demands concentration, control, stamina and flexibility.  Everybody really enjoyed learning this new skill, and some are now looking for yoga classes outside school to continue their yoga journey.


From September to December Year Two has been learning and practising hockey skills. We started by simply holding the stick correctly and learning to dribble the ball. Over the weeks we added passing, turning and shooting to our list of skills and refined them by taking part in lots of fun games and activities. To finish our hockey unit, all three classes competed against each other in a series of activities, fighting for the honour to become Year Two hockey champions. Mr Lambert’s class proved victorious, and in the return match won again! You can see the glitter cup proudly displayed on 2L’s door.

Year Two has also had a term of multi skills teaching delivered by Mr Gamer from Premier Sports.  We have been practising running and pacing; balance; passing; catching and bouncing a ball; dodging; jumping and working as a team.  Mr Gamer has taught us new skills and refined those we already had.  All of Year Two, including the teachers, have enjoyed learning together.
